Introduction
Sara M. Rodrigues is a Principal Associate and the Head of the Competition, Trade, and Foreign Investment Department at Eversheds Sutherland, which she joined in 2020.
Bringing nearly twenty-five years of professional experience, Sara possesses deep expertise in Competition Law across all major areas, including sanctioning procedures, dawn raids, merger control, compliance, private enforcement, state aid, trade and sanctions, FDI, and FSR. For twelve years, she served as a senior officer and competition expert, leading some of the Portuguese Competition Authority's most complex cases (cartels and abuses), and has worked extensively across key sectors such as Banking, Pharma, Insurance, Healthcare, and Waste Management.
She is the Vice Chair of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Portuguese Competition Commission.
Beyond her primary role, Sara is a leader in crucial transversal firm initiatives. She serves as the firm's Anti-Bribery Officer, is the Coordinator of the Pro Bono and Corporate Social Responsibility Area, and a Co-coordinator of the firm’s ESG Team.
She also maintains an active academic presence as an Assistant Lecturer in Economic Law, International Economy, and Economy at the Lisbon University Law School, where she holds a master’s degree and is a doctorate candidate.
Sara also has significant experience in Misdemeanor Litigation.
Sara is a recognized author, having published numerous articles on Competition and Administrative Offenses in both Portuguese and international specialized journals. She regularly speaks at conferences and postgraduate courses on these topics.
