Introduction
João Rocha de Almeida joined Eversheds Sutherland in 2014 and became a Partner in 2023. He works in the Public, Administrative, and Environmental Law Department and has been involved in numerous projects in Portugal, Angola and Mozambique. João has significant expertise in the renewable energy and construction sectors.
In the renewable energy sector, João has advised clients on a wide range of issues, including on regulatory matters impacting energy projects, compliance with mandatory requirements, project structuring, and contractual negotiations (including EPC, O&M, PPAs and others).
In addition to the renewable energy sector, also has extensive experience in the Angolan oil & gas sector, having advised clients on transactions and day-to-day regulatory matters and disputes.
João’s deep understanding of the construction industry complements his energy expertise. He regularly advises clients on contractual and regulatory matters in large-scale infrastructure projects. He also has extensive expertise in arbitrations and public law disputes, ensuring capability to mitigate risks and resolve conflicts effectively.
