Eversheds Sutherland FCB jointly with the Angolan law firm EVC Advogados | Eversheds Sutherland, advised SOMOIL, the largest privately held Angolan oil company, on the acquisition of two Galp corporate vehicles, which hold participating interests in oil blocks 14, 14K and 32, offshore Angola.
SOMOIL was also advised by Eversheds Sutherland's office in the Netherlands, as well as by law firm White & Case. This operation, which will only be completed upon all relevant conditions being met, is an important milestone in Somoil's growth in the Angolan energy sector. From Eversheds Sutherland's point of view, this operation represents the result of a strong focus of the firm on the energy sector and, in particular, on the Angolan market.
The Eversheds Sutherland team, comprising different members from the Portuguese and Angolan offices, was led by João Robles (M&A), with the participation of partner Diogo Bernardo Monteiro (tax) and senior associates João Rocha de Almeida (energy), Sara M. Rodrigues (competition), senior associate Pedro Quinanga, associate Alberto Júlio Paulino and junior associate Leonor Gago da Câmara.
